The desire
The desire was clear: to increase cooperation and thereby creating inspiring dynamics on the spacious work floor (10,225 ft2). The goal was to transform the run-of-the-mill office into a stimulating work environment that challenges its inhabitants to be creative and productive. Some of the requirements were: maximum transparency and a central place to relax and meet; the ability to work both collaboratively and independently; the creation of 65 workstations; and encouraging employees to move about as much as possible.
The result
By using different materials, such as soft and hard wall and floor coverings interspersed with wood, chrome, suede and leather, a homely and accessible atmosphere was created. In terms of furniture we opted for a mix & match of existing furniture and new tailor-made designs. Each workstation captures plenty of natural light, which benefits employees’ productivity. And at the centre of it all sits the bustling Klap Café. Everyone is welcome here for a good cup of coffee. The relaxed seats with soft upholstery are ideal for informal consultations. The large reading table is a great place to prepare presentations, quietly read through documents or consult with colleagues. The two spacious meeting rooms are semi-transparent and styled with bamboo. Despite the size of this property there is still enough space to find some peace and quiet in one of the silence areas. Cloakrooms and lockers are integrated into the walls, adding to the overall sense of calm and professionalism. And to avoid general messiness and clutter, every employee has his or her own cupboard space. The beautiful arch gallery is semi-open and its high tables and stools offer spots to catch up with colleagues or take or make a phone call. A surprising detail is the architectural repetition of columns that are painted an attractive green colour.
