The desire Hay Group Nederland (160 employees) wanted to join up three office locations with a total surface area of no less than 194,000 ft2 on the 7th floor of the Piet Hein Building in Amsterdam. One of the main desires was for this headquarters to have international allure, with people from all parts of the world feeling at ease in the new interior. The new look and feel, firmly rooted in modernity, was especially meant to resonate with people in their 30s and 40s. An important pillar for the client was, among others: business-like, but light and open. A down-to-earth atmosphere with room for activity and fun.
The result ‘Meeting & Relaxing’ and ‘Working & Being Productive’ are central tenants of this challenging property. The office spreads across two wings. The A wing has been given the ‘Meeting’ function and the B wing the ‘Office’ function. Employees and visitors arrive by the A wing and immediately enter the lively Hay Café. This place is surrounded by meeting rooms, making it a space that is intensively used to meet up with colleagues or customers. To access the B wing and the office area employees and guests take the glass walkway, offering stunning views over Amsterdam. Through the use of mostly natural materials the atmosphere is luxurious, yet accessible and cosy.
